Open Book Exams in CA Final from 2017:
ICAI President CA Manoj Fadnis, in a meeting held before a week, said that ICAI is planning to introduce open book exams in CA Final from 2017. We will have to agree that ICAI is changing the shape of exams and making it more student friendly as lots of students of various courses are passing through a great mental pressure and tension, hence this open book exam would be a good initiative to bring the exam pattern of 21st century in CA.
On this regard, CA Manoj Fadnis added, “We change the syllabus every 10 years as per industry requirements. Topics relevant to business, trade and commerce will be made part of the syllabus. Right now, we are in talks with industry experts on their needs and expectations from CAs before framing the syllabus.” He then added, “We expect a bill on Goods Service and Tax to be passed soon during monsoon. Since independence, it is the largest tax reform. If passed, we will include it in the syllabus. ”
What is the open book exam?
As the words itself specifies its meaning, its an exam in which a candidate would be allowed to take all the material of the subject and write answers by searching it from the materials.
If we look from the perspective of the students, open book exam is an easy pattern of the exam, but stop, open book exam is called an exam pattern of 21st century, and you know what does this mean as you are living in the era of technology i.e. 21st century, a smart & innovative century of digital age. It would not easy to find answers from the material unless you are prepared well and the time will be elapsed faster than what you had thought.
Many universities in the world have applied this open book exam pattern in their exam methods. ICAI will be the next institute to bring this pattern if all the tests to implement it are passed.
